Flexible Skype Session Times
We want to fit in with you and your busy world. We know finding time to see a psychologist, or get your child to see a psychologist is hard work. That’s why at Big Little Steps Psychology we offer a few options for being able to access therapy.
– Face to face – during our business hours at our offices at Summit Health, Mount Barker . This option allows you to access Better Access rebates.
–Skype Sessions – Video is a fantastic alternative to traditional face to face sessions for busy parents, time-poor professionals, those with mobility difficulties or living in regional or remote areas of Australia. It also suits those who just prefer to have therapy sessions in the comfort of their own homes, rather than driving to a our office.
Generally speaking, any issue can be worked with, as long as the psychologist and client can see one another. Common topics for Skype Sessions include dealing with loss and grief, managing marriage issues, post-partum support and communication coaching (personal or professional).
Although we call them Skype Sessions, we are able to use Skype, Google Hangouts and FaceTime. If you think these sessions are right for you, get in touch with us today to determine how to proceed.
– walk and talk therapy – there is lots of evidence to support the link between exercise and motivation, energy and positive mood change. Being outdoors in the sunshine gives you Vitamin D, exercise releases endorphins, brisk walking and fresh air improves circulation of oxygen around your mind and body. When we combine therapy with walking, we get all these benefits + a more relaxed, less intimidating option for discussing issues. Clients come to sessions with comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. Walks vary in intensity depending on the client’s preference and last the normal therapy session of 50 minutes. Please note, Walk and Talk sessions are available only for young adults and adults.
The same confidentiality rules apply during a Walk and Talk session as in a normal therapy session, however, there are some limitations with this being out in a public area which your psychologist will discuss with you prior to starting. Walk and Talk sessions are weather dependent.
